Workshop information 2

Introduction:

Over the past few years, burn centers across Europe have encountered a notable influx of patients from abroad, particularly from regions with limited burn care resources or conflict zones. These patients typically arrive at the centers two to three weeks after the trauma, often lacking comprehensive surgical treatment beyond basic wound dressings. Additionally, they are frequently colonized and/or infected with multi-resistant bacteria, presenting a significant challenge across various aspects of burn care, including ethical considerations, surgical strategies, infection management, nursing, and psychosocial aspects.

Objective:

In this workshop, we will identify specific issues related to the surgical management of burn cases referred from other countries for treatment in European Burns Centres, classify these issues into themes and develop principles and practices to address these, in order to optimize outcomes and decrease complications in this complex patient group.
